Jerry Ken Sparks

Jerry K. Sparks, 66, of Scottsbluff died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at his home. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Jerry was born May 3, 1942 in North Platte, NE to Mainard Donald and Dolores Eileen (John son) Sparks. He grew up and received his education in Colorado. He was married to Ellen L. M. (Connelly) Sparks on September 3, 1960 and their union was blessed by seven children. He entered the U. S. Army September 9, 1960 and honorably discharged September 3, 1963. He moved to Sidney, NE in 1971 where he worked for Goodyear Tire, Sidney Auto Sales and later owned Sparks Auto Repair. He was very active coaching baseball, softball and boxing while his children were growing up. He spent several years in Arizona and recently returned to Nebraska. Jerry is survived by his father: Mainard (Marilyn) Sparks of Greenwood, Arkansas; children: Dolores (Charles) Petri, Sidney, NE, Loretta (Charles) Lewis, Holbrook, AZ, Kenny Sparks, Casper, WY, Jackie (Eric) White, Colorado Springs, CO, Jeri Sparks, Greeley, CO and Audrey (Cory) Wood , Clear Lake, IA; brother: Douglas (Vicki) Sparks, Idaho Springs, CO; step-sister: Amy (David) Best, Denver, CO; and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Dolores Foland; brother Jack Sparks; son Mainard Sparks; and granddaughter, Nicole Yeager.
