

John Roger Sample, 62, of Bayard, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. At his request, cremation has taken place. John’s ashes as well as those of his wife, Trisha (who died December 17, 2012), will be buried with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard and the Bayard Honor Guard at 11 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the Veterans Circle of the Bayard Cemetery. John was born September 16, 1952 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Raymond and Roberta (Robinson) Sample. He received his education in Scottsbluff, graduating from Scottsbluff High School with the Class of 1970. John enlisted in the United States Army on January 21, 1971 and honorably served his country until his retirement on October 31, 1991. Upon his retirement from the military, John owned and operated Sample Trucking for several years until ill health forced him to retire.
John met Trisha Kersey in 1990 and they moved to Bayard in 1992. John and Trisha were married in Scottsbluff and made their home in Bayard. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Bayard. John could always be found with his beloved dog, Chewy, by his side.
John is survived by his father Raymond (JoAnne) Sample and their daughter Pamela and her family; sisters Laura Paxton and Becky (Mark) Chrisman; daughter Nicole (Agapito) Anguiano; step-daughters Cristal (Scott) Kersey and Marlo (Rick) Hubbard; step-son Robert (Virginia) McColpin; grandchildren Sergio, Mirka, Adrian, Heather, Tyler, Savannah, Jennifer, Laura, Jason, Emily, Kaitlyn, Charlie, Christopher, Colton, and Patrick; great-grandchildren Isabella and Delilah; nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his mother Roberta Sample and loving wife Trisha A. Sample.
