

Julio M. Bernal Sr., 90, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Regional West Medical Center, in Scottsbluff. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Phil Flott officiating. A vigil service will be 6:30 P.M., Friday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff followed by a celebration of Julio’s life at 7:00 P.M., at Berean Bible Church with Pastor Andrew Bernal officiating at 1701 Avenue K, Scottsbluff. Cremation will follow the funeral mass and inurnment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery at Morrill at a later date. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established in care of the family. Julio was born April 12, 1917, at Durango, Mexico to Eleno and Maria Jesus (Munoz) Bernal. Julio traveled with his family to the United States. He married Sabina Hernandez, where he raised his children in Mitchell, Nebraska. Julio worked with various farmers in Mitchell, Morrill and Minatare areas. He worked at the Sugar factory until he retired. Julio volunteered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He was a dedicated member of the El Milargo AA meeting for many years. We will miss him and he has been our rock who has tied our family together. He has passed many fruits and he has created a legacy that will be passed down through generations. Survivors include his sons, Julio Bernal Jr., Raymond Bernal and Alfonso Bernal; daughters, Lupe Pina and Irene Torrez; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, David Bernal; sister, Jessie Pena; and numerous nieces and nephews. Julio was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Vincent Bernal; daughter, Elena Bernal; grandson, Jesus Pina; brothers, Isabell J. Bernal, Salvado Bernal and Abel Bernal; and his sister, Juanita Bernal.
