Lawrence Stanley "Stan" Schaneman sadly passed away November 5, 2024, after a valiant fight with cancer. Despite his untimely departure, Stan's legacy lives on through his admirable accomplishments and the countless lives he touched along his journey.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Salem Congregational Church, 2001 7th Ave, Scottsbluff, NE 69361, with a graveside at Fairview Cemetery following the service.
Stan was born April 25, 1945, to Laurence and Amelia "Millie" (Meier) Schaneman in Scottsbluff, NE. He was a graduate of Minatare High School. He attended Western Nebraska Community College while at the same time working alongside his grandfather and father farming, equipping himself with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in his future endeavors. Stan started his very own farming enterprise in 1967.
He met Pamela Kaye Hilzer in 1968 and they later married on May 31, 1970. To their union three children were born; Jason, Brooke, and Jennifer.
Stan's farming career served as a testament to his hard work and dedication. Early on in his career he raised cattle and sheep. He farmed corn, potatoes, beans, and alfalfa. Stan was also one of the top 10 sugar beet growers for nearly 10 years. He took great pride in his land and equipment. Stan had an unrelenting passion for farming. He cultivated many friendships within the farming community over the years. His work ethic was simply one that could not be matched.
Stan retired in 2020 and even then continued to offer his assistance to those farming his ground, reflecting his unwavering passion for agriculture.
Stan shared the greatest love with his wife. They cherished the time spent together and were inseparable in their companionship.
Above all, Stan loved his family and lived for them. Everything he did throughout his life was done in love. Through good and bad times he was faithful to each and everyone of them. Stan’s children were his greatest blessings. He was always there to offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and words of encouragement when they needed it most. He was their rock, their protector, their guiding light.
Through the challenges and hardships of life, Stan remained steadfast in his love for his family. He faced each obstacle with courage and determination, knowing that his loved ones were counting on him. As the years passed and Stan grew older, his family remained the center of his world. He never wavered in his devotion to them, always putting their needs above his own.
Stan’s presence will be deeply missed, as his unique character and impact cannot be adequately articulated. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him.
Stan is survived by his wife, Pam of 54 years. His children, Jason and Brooke. Sister and lifelong friend Darlene Kovarik. Sister in law Deb Hilzer. His grandchildren, DJ ( Kamille), Tanner (Brittany) Jordan (Jyllian), Trayton (Taysia), and twins Arya and Frankie. His great grandchildren Ava, Emerie, Lani, Layla, Briella and Axel as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Stan also leaves behind his close friends Vern Groskopf and Kenny Shriver.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jennifer; his grandparents and parents; his brother in laws Lee Kovarik and Rick Hilzer.
