

Mary Eleanor Hadley, entered into rest at Heritage Health Care Center, Gering, Nebraska September 14, 2009. She leaves her husband, Robert Harold Hadley, of Sundance, Wyoming, and two brothers, Richard Aseltine of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and John Aseltine, of Arroyo Grands, California. Born Mary Eleanor Aseltine, March 7, 1932, in San Diego, California, to John and Mildred Aseltine. She grew up enjoying horseback riding, and swimming and surfing at the beach in Del Mar. She met her husband Bob Hadley, on that beach at age 15. They were married August 28, 1949 in Del Mar. They spent the next 60 years living the life they both loved; on a ranch, raising 7 children; Hereford cattle, and performance quarter horses. Mary loved the ranch life, baby calves in the springtime, watching her children learn to ride, and sharing the challenges and triumphs of ranching with her husband, Bob. She was involved in 4-H with her children, Cowbelles, and the Methodist Womens Group and Choir. After her children had grown, she became involved in writing short stories and children’s books; as part of the Bearlodge Writers in the Black Hills of Wyoming and South Dakota. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Survivors include her husband, Bob, who continues to work on their ranch in Sundance, Wyoming; daughter Donna (Tom) Smith, of Lostine, Oregon and grandchildren Kyle and Clint (Amanda) Johnson and great-grand daughter Ada; son Jim (Trina) of Sundance, Wyoming with grandchildren Shiloh and Shane; daughter Susan Hadley of Sundance, Wyoming, with grandchildren Clay(Joanna) Skeen and great grandchild Jaxon, and Samantha (Jason) Samson and great grandchildren Dilan and Rylie; daughter Carol Wells of Wheatland, Wyoming with grandchildren Laramie, Travis, and Brandy (Billie) Johnson and great grandchildren Syrei and Griz; daughter Joan (Al) Katz of Woodridge, Illinois and grandchildren Austin and Aaron; son Tom (Marina) of Wheatland, Wyoming and grandchildren Jhett and TC; and son Tim (Sheila) of Walla Walla, Washington. She will be buried beside her grandson, Griz Johnson in Wheatland, Wyoming. A memorial service will be held September 21 at 10am at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering, Nebraska.
