

Mary L. Hutchison, 90, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Northfield Retirement Communities Care Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Reverend Craig Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-7 PM on Friday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to the church or the Nebraska Children’s Home. Mary was born September 7, 1927 at Elk Creek, Nebraska to Fred and Virginia (Bumgarner) Schreiber. She graduated from Elk Creek High School and Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln. Mary moved to Scottsbluff and was the Director for this area for the Camp Fire Girls. She was united in marriage to Calvin E. Hutchison on August 13, 1955 and to this union, two sons were born: Michael and Mark.
Mary taught at Haig school and coached volleyball. She had a long career as a travel agent, working for AAA and then Oregon Trail Travel. After retirement she started her own travel agency which she operated out of her home for several years. Travel was Mary’s passion. She loved planning and sharing travel experiences with others.
Mary enjoyed social activities with her friends, especially after moving to Heritage Park in 2016. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff and was Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.
Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Lisa of Gering and Mark and Terri of Lincoln; grandchildren Jon (Jamie) Hutchison of Gering, Bret (Kelley) Hutchison of Lincoln, Tegan and Logan Murdock of Gering, and Ethan, Evan, Olivia, and Madeline Hutchison all of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Quinn and Callen Hutchison; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Wendell Lowery of Davenport, NE; nephews David (Denise) Lowery and Tim (Debbie) Lowery all of Davenport, Nebraska; cousins and numerous special friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one cousin.
