

Michael Lynn McCoy traveled through this earthly life on a wing and a prayer. His gift to us all is a legacy of kindness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at First Baptist Church located at 3009 Avenue I, Scottsbluff, NE with Pastor Herb Rainey officiating. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the Panhandle Humane Society. Michael was born October 21, 1945 in Scottsbluff, NE to Daniel and Norma McCoy and went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2013. He worked for the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department and served as courthouse security officer from 2002 to 2012. Prior to that, he worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for many years serving as Superintendent at Lake Minatare. A gentle man of few words, Deputy Sheriff McCoy commanded respect by always being respectful of others. A True Grit, Code of the West Cowboy at Heart, Michael’s most cherished earthly possessions were a shovel, a pair of posthole diggers, a tamper, and his leather work gloves. Surviving him are his wife Stacy of Minatare, NE; his mother Norma of Fort Collins, CO; sister Judy (John) Mustard, Snyder, CO; brothers Steve (Marilyn) of Greeley, CO, and Rod (Lori) of Bayard, NE; sons Mat (Jo) and Mike (Jody) of Scottsbluff, Ne and his grandchildren Macrissa and Cadence McCoy.
