Mike Hernandez

Mike Hernandez, 86, of Morrill, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Mike Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. The Mike Hernandez, Sr. Memorial Fund has been established. Friends may call at the funeral home between 9:00 am – 8:00 p.m. Friday. Mike was born April 28, 1923 in Marquez, TX to Marcello and Guadalupe (Cuarra) Hernandez. He was raised in Texas and came to Nebraska in 1940. He married Mary Barraza April 20, 1960 in Gering. He farmed south of Lyman on the Kenneth Carpenter farm until moving to Morrill in 1985. Mike loved hunting, fishing, rock and arrowhead collecting, guns, gardening and watching westerns on television. He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife Mary of forty-nine years; children: Mary Jane (Marcus) Quevedo, Gering, NE, Mike (Paula) Hernandez, Jr. Morrill, NE, Martin (Rose) Hernandez, Morrill, NE, Marcella (John) Urdiales, Gering, NE and Marie (Fernando) Perez, Morrill, NE; sister: Margaret Fernandez, California; Grandchildren: Adrian and Cory Quevedo, Michael III, Heather (Doradji) Ni-Ahma, and Christopher Hernandez, Stacy (Fernando) Rodriquez, Nathan (Sarahi) Hernandez, Sara and Abraham Hernandez, Brandon, Brittany and Andrew Urdiales, and Anthony, Christian, Natasha and Kadin Perez; great grandchildren: Quintyn Quevedo, Isabella and Michael IV, Hernandez, Sebastian Hernandez and Nevaeh Urdiales. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.
