A celebration of Rocky’s life will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Vine Methodist Church in Scottsbluff. In true Rocky fashion, the family invites everyone to come as you are—casual attire is encouraged—and to ride your motorcycle if you have one, joining together to give Rocky one last ride. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later time. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.dugankramer.com. Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Rocky was born January 10, 1958, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Raymond and Billie (Piper) Robinson. He graduated from Gering High School in 1976 and got an early start on what would become a lifetime of hard work and skilled craftsmanship.
He met and married the love of his life and best friend, Peggy, on June 18, 1977. Together they built not just a home, but a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Rocky worked many jobs over the years—starting as a bricklayer, then as a sewing machine repairman, and eventually finding his stride as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Stanko Packing, the Nebraska Department of Roads, Americo Carriers, and spent the majority of his career with Nebraska Transport Company until retiring in 2023.
Rocky was the kind of man who could fix just about anything—and if he didn’t know how, he’d figure it out. Bricklayer, carpenter, mechanic, plumber, welder—he wore all those hats and more. But more importantly, he was the kind of man you could count on. Steady, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand.
Nothing in Rocky’s life mattered more than his family. His girls were his pride and joy, and that love only grew as the family expanded to include grandchildren. He was happiest when surrounded by them—whether it was a big gathering or just time spent together.
Later in life, Rocky found a special kind of freedom on the open road. At 42, he and Peggy bought a Goldwing motorcycle and began traveling the country side by side, making memories mile by mile. He became a proud member of the Loup Valley Road Riders out of Sargent, Nebraska, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his love of riding.
Rocky also gave back to his community in quiet but meaningful ways, serving as a member of the Lyman Volunteer Fire Department and on the Lyman Board of Trustees.
Retirement didn’t slow him down much—it just changed his tools. He traded in his work at the shop for projects at home, keeping busy with Peggy’s “honey-do” list and still building, fixing, and improving everything around him.
Rocky will be remembered for his strong hands, his generous heart, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love that will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his darling wife of 48 years, Peggy Robinson of Lyman; daughters and son-in-law Elisa K (Todd) Roseborough of Upton, WY and Kelli J French of Henry, NE; mother Billie Robinson of Gering, NE; sister Sherry Weis of Scottsbluff, NE; brother Greg (Denise) Robinson of Laurel, MT; brother-in-law Monte McMurtry (Melody) of Madison, NC; grandchildren Caden P Garton, Caleb D Garton, Reegan W French, Bailee L French, Carter J Garton, McKenzi Monson (Glen), Rylee Roseborough, Payton Roseborough and Addyson Roseborough; great grandchildren Cassie and Kaitlyn Monson; fathers of grandchildren- Cody D Garton and Robert W French and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond H Robinson, father and mother in law James and Bessie McMurtry, brother Gerald Robinson, brother in law Donald Weis, nephew Donny Weis, brother in law and sister in law Howard and Carol Greene.
