Rolland James Friend

Rolland was born June 4th, 1937 to Floyd and Hazel (Miles) Friend, in Angora, NE. He attended and graduated from Bayard High School in 1954 and worked several jobs, including Ag of Nebraska until they closed, and then ended his working career retiring from American Colloid of Scottsbluff after 20 years.

He married Patricia Ann Sterkel on June 1, 1957 and to this union five children were born; Debra, Vickie, James, Laurie, and Janice.

He is survived by his wife Pat of soon to be 60 years (June 1); daughters Debra (Terry) Langer of Minatare, Vickie of Gering, Janice (Mark) Staman of Scottsbluff; son James (Debra) Friend of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; 3 sisters; one very special brother-in-law Reiny Rahmig, several nieces and nephews and multiple other loved ones. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; daughter Laurie, and a very special son-in-law Adolph Koncaba; an infant granddaughter and great granddaughter; 4 sisters; and 5 brother-in-laws.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 3rd at the Lake Minatare Boy Scout Island Cabin from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All those who knew and loved him are welcome to join us. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
