

Scott Hartman, 59, passed away on August 16, 2011, surrounded by family at Regional West Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff, with Reverend Brad Gustafson officiating. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the WNCC Foundation to benefit the English Language Learning program. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements. Condolences to the family may be left at the church Scott was born on May 10, 1952 to Margaret Jane Keating Hartman and Gene Edwin Hartman in Fort Collins, Colorado, the oldest of five Hartman siblings. He had two younger brothers and two younger sisters: Kent, Jeff, Jane, and Kathleen. Scott grew up and attended school in Torrington, graduating from Torrington High School in 1970. He attended Hiram Scott College, Nebraska Western College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honor from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. Scott met Margo when they sponsored the Presbyterian Youth Group together in 1981. Scott and Margo were married in Scottsbluff on September 4, 1982. During their marriage they lived in Gering, Nebraska where both of their children Andrea and Paul were born. They later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska for a short time where Scott managed a multi-office travel agency. Upon returning to Scottsbluff, Scott and Margo bought Oregon Trail Travel and served the travel needs of the community until 2003. Scott had a love for travel and enjoyed leading numerous tours around the world. He also had a passion for language and writing. In recent years, he immensely enjoyed working at Western Nebraska Community College as an English as a Second Language instructor, as an English instructor for Upward Bound and at the Scottsbluff Regional Airport. Scott was a son, a husband, a father, and an uncle. He is survived by his father Gene of Gering, wife Margo (Koehler) of Scottsbluff, daughter Andrea, son Paul, brother Kent of Hudson, Colorado, sister Jane Heimbouch and husband Brian of Gering, brother Jeff and wife Donna (Swaringen) of Thornton, Colorado, sister Kathleen Shiverdecker and husband Donald of Denver, Colorado, sister-in-law Ann Koehler of Scottsbluff, brother-in-law David Koehler and wife Joan (Gueck) of Scottsbluff. He is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews: Katherine Tuttle and husband Eric, Susanna Heimbouch, Jacob Hartman, Tom Heimbouch, Adam Hartman, Benjamin Hartman and Ethan Koehler. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
