

Shelly James, 43, of Mitchell, lost her battle with inflammatory breast cancer Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 with her family and loved ones by her side. She fought a courageous and valiant fight but in the end God called her home. At her request cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Mitchell Berean Church, east of Mitchell on Highway 26. Pastor Giles Armstrong will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, Shelly requested donations be made to the James' Children Educational Fund, care of Pinnacle Bank, 1151 Broadway, Mitchell NE 69357. Shelly was born Aug. 4, 1967, in Cheyenne Wyo. to Sam and Sharon Field. She graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1985. When Shelly was growing up she loved working with her horses with her Dad. Shelly married Bill James Feb. 13, 1988 in Cheyenne. They were blessed with a daughter, Amanda, 19 and son, Taylor, 18. The James Family moved from Cheyenne to Mitchell in 1996 where Shelly, her husband, and her parents opened Nutter's Bulk and Natural Foods in Scottsbluff. Shelly owned and managed the store until she became ill, when Bill took it over for her. Shelly always used the store as a ministry to touch people's hearts and treated her customers as extended family. She loved everyone she met. Shelly loved helping under privileged and at risk children through her friends. She loved studying her bible and torah. She was deeply devoted to her Faith and helped spread Jesus’ love to many. She was an inspiration to all who met her. Shelly requests that we try to honor God in everything we do. Survivors include her husband Bill, children Amanda and Taylor of Mitchell; parents Sam and Sharon Field, brother Shadd Field, his wife Melanie and their children Keagon and Samantha of Cheyenne. Her grandparents preceded her in death.
