

Thornton B. Bulman, 82, of Gering, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at his home. His funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 11, 2007, at Central Church of Christ in Gering with Pastors Lyle Hinebauch, Howard Roseberry and Kerry Hookstra officiating. Interment will be in the High Butte Cemetery at McGrew. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Memorials have been established to Central Church of Christ in Gering or Minatare Church of Christ. Thornton and his twin sister were born to John A. and Lorena (Andrews) Bulman on March 31, 1925, in Bridgeport, Nebraska. From Bridgeport the family moved to Dalton, Lisco and east of Bayard until they bought the present farm south of McGrew in Horse Shoe Bend. Thornton lived on the farm for 72 years before moving to Gering in February of 2007. He graduated from McGrew High School in 1942. He was a member of the McGrew Rifle Club and the Masons. Thornton was also a member of the Church of Christ, serving as an Elder, teaching Sunday School Class and led in Bible studies. He continued to farm while working 29 campaigns for Great Western Sugar Company. He then worked as an independent electrician for Gene Shaver and McLean Potato Company, servicing pivot sprinklers and other electrical jobs for about 30 years. He married Viola Benton on March 10, 1967. They have two daughters, Margaret (Philip) Eckerberg and Faye Sinner both of Gering. He is survived by his wife, Vi; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Philip Eckerberg and their children, Brooke, Brittany, Brianna, Matthew and Victoria; daughter, Faye Sinner and her daughter Meagan; twin sister, Thelma Furrey of Orafino, Idaho; and two nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Albert; two infant daughters, Marjorie Sue and Mary Kaye; and brother-in-law, Charles Furrey.
