

Warren L. Brashear, 76, of Gering, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Michael Stein officiating. Cremation will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to Gering Girls Softball Association and Gering Organized Baseball. Warren entered this life July 31, 1933, at Lincoln, Nebraska. His parents were Jack and Julia Joyce (Harper) Brashear. He graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1951. He married Sara Barry August 4, 1951, at Cheyenne, Wyoming. They farmed and ranched in the Mitchell Valley before moving to the Gering Valley in 1963, where they continued to farm. He was known as a coach, photographer, inventor, hobby meteorologist, entrepreneur, mentor, school board member, 4-H leader, amateur ham operator and cowboy. He enjoyed attending various sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Cindy (Dennis) Drumheller of Gering, Bill (Vickie) Brashear of Gering, Sandra (James) Paquin of Glendale, Arizona and Julie (Tim) Mohn of Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren, Eric Drumheller of Lincoln, Missy (Jason) Davis of Parachute, Colorado, Kellie Brashear of Kansas City, Kansas, Wade Brashear of Gering, James Paquin of Glendale, Arizona, Katie Mohn of Peoria, Arizona and Jacob Mohn of Peoria, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Brenden and Riley Davis of Colorado; special companion, Margie Taylor of Gering; siblings, Nora Mae (Alvin) Vance of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kenneth (June) Hornby of Gainesville, Florida, Paul (Peg) Fowler of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Dee Pierce of Lakeview, Arkansas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cable of Scottsbluff, Gene Barry of Scottsbluff, and Dale (Ellen) Barry of Sterling, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Todd Tegler; father-in-law and mother-in-law Emery and Ivey Barry; and sisters-in-law, Dora Lee Barry and Reuby Barry.
