

Weston “Wes” R. Pielstick, 89 of Gering, Nebraska died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Regional West Medical Center. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Gering with Pastor Lauren Eckdahl officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made toFirst United Methodist Church in Gering or to the Buckboard Riding Academy, 270388 CR U, Gering, Ne 69341. Weston “Wes” R. Pielstick was born on August 23, 1918 to Minnie and Frank Pielstick in Glenvil, Nebraska. Wes’s favorite memories as a youth were of living on a ranch in Custer County. Wes gave his life to the Lord during his teen years. He attended high school in Sumner and college at the University of Nebraska, where he received his B.S. degree. He taught high school in Allen and Grant, Nebraska, spending summers with the Scottsbluff canning factory and in country agent work. He met his wife, Hazel, while teaching at Grant. They were married in Holyoke, CO on June 6, 1946, and then moved to Gering. He was a Scottsbluff County Weed district fieldman after which he started Midwest Farm Service, an irrigation engineering company. He belonged to the Gering First United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men’s group and Scottsbluff Kiwanis. Surviving him are his wife, Hazel; daughters and husbands, Marcia and Ken Lowe of TN, Claudia and Doug Downey of CO, and Ellen and Larry Hoffman of AR; grandchildren, Erin Lowe, Brian and Claudia Lowe and son Samuel, Garret Lowe; Ryan and Anna Downey and children, Brooke and Conlan; Ben and Amy Downey and children, Abigail and Grace; Christopher Downey, Nathan Downey and Caleb Downey. Two infant children, Dan and Gail preceded him in death. Wes was a cheerful, generous, and caring man who loved to tell stories, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
