

Betty Usher, 92, of Crandall, TX passed away on Sunday, November, 19, 2023 in Dallas, TX. Betty was born on September 22, 1931 in French Village, Fairview Heights, Illinois to Florence Silch and George John Smith. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister, friend and colleague to all who knew and loved her.
Betty married James William Usher, Sr. on April 20, 1951. They had 6 beautiful children together. Betty was a mom and housewife for many years, a banker and a membership clerk at Sam’s Wholesale Club. She will be best remembered as fun-loving, faithful mother and her family was her pride and joy. She was a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Betty is a Christian woman of faith, member of DeSoto Presbyterian Church in DeSoto, TX. She knew Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. Birthdays were particularly special because Betty never missed sending out a card to a relative or friend she held dear. She loved going to family gatherings, traveling, reading, going to movie theaters, bowling, dancing, listening to a variety of big band and country music, crocheting, gardening, puzzles, playing games, enjoyed good food and drink, watching TV sermons, old movies on TCM, John Wayne movies, Gunsmoke, Golden Girls and Everybody loves Raymond.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James, her daughter Janet Louise Usher, son James William Usher, Jr, her sister Ellen (Allen) Sweet, and two brothers, John (Joyce) Smith and Ray (Donna) Smith.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Laurie Terrell, Lizabeth Haughwout and Linda (Scott) Chapman and one son Craig (Donna) Usher. 8 grandchildren, Christian Usher, Curtis (Melissa) Laguna, Phillip Haughwout, Nickolaus Haughwout, Jeremy (Joanna) Usher, Dan (Jessica) Usher, Jessica (Miles) Brown & Layne Chapman, 10 great-grandchildren, Lindsey Knight, Landen Usher, Destiny Haughwout, Faith Haughwout, Nickolaus Haughwout II, Benjamin Haughwout, Reid Brown, Owen Brown, Lilah Christian, with baby Clara Usher on the way, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Her love for her family was unconditional and endless.
We would like to thank the staff at T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Dallas for the care Betty received, the compassion and respect they showed her and her family.
