Charles “Chuck” Garner Vatter, 78, passed away on October 18, 2016 at his home. He was the firstborn child of Charles E. and Doris Vatter of Cochranton, Pennsylvania and was born on July 27, 1938. Chuck was born and raised in Cochranton, PA. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and after being stationed in Odessa, TX, vowed to never return to the coldness of his home state. Chuck was of German ethnicity and extremely proud of his heritage. He provided for his family by servicing and installing air conditioners for Suburban Air for over 20 years. Chuck also served as a reserve police officer in Ferris many years ago. He was very good at woodwork and enjoyed building things. Chuck also nurtured a love for elderberry pie and upon receiving a shipment of berries from his hometown, he enjoyed eating the pie that he had told his family about for years…a pie that his family did not feel lived up to the hype, but nevertheless were happy that Chuck was able to enjoy it. He was a Christian by faith and his greatest pleasure in life was his family. Preceding him in death are his parents Charles and Doris Vatter, his wife of 45 years Barbara Vatter, daughter Carol Webster, son-in-law James Odom, sister Mary Jane Vatter and brother Walter A. Vatter. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Brenda Odom, Linda Hensley and husband, Jay and Bryan Vatter and wife, Jamie; grandchildren: Eric, Danny, Jarette, Kevin, Cole, C.J., Melissa and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Journey, Pierce, Beverly, Jessica, Haiden and Grayson; 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Dorothy “Dot” Vatter Urquhart, Francis “Fran” Vatter Hecker, James D. “Jim” Vatter and his beloved four-legged companion, Pooter.
