Clyde was born in 1934 and raised in Mobile, AL before he joined the United States Marine Corp in 1953. Clyde served his country with dignity and honor until 1961. Clyde received an honorable discharge and earned three metals for distinguished service before leaving the Marines at the rank of Sergeant (E-4).
Clyde married the love of his life, Robin Hamilton, on October 8, 1998, after dating for more than eight years. They loved spending time together and worked side-by-side for 15 years in the trucking industry. Clyde was a loving husband, dad, and “PawPaw”.
Clyde loved to spend time with family and friends, loved going to church and serving the Lord, and more than anything he loved to share God’s word and witness to people. No matter where he was, or who you were, Clyde would always ask, “Do you know the Lord as your personal savior?”
On November 22, 2020, Clyde shared his testimony with the members of Point View Baptist church. As part of his testimony, he said, “When the Lord calls me from this home to His heavenly home, I’m ready!”
Clyde was self-employed most of his adult life. He owned Quality Bumper Service for many years before starting his sand & gravel company, Hamilton Trucking. He retired at the young age of 82. After retiring, Clyde pursued his passion for hand making beautiful things. In his last year, he started making Walnut/Maple/Cherry cutting boards among other things. He loved spending hours in his shop.
Clyde often said he couldn’t wait to get to heaven to meet his Savior and to reunite with his family and faithful sidekick, Tator. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents Clyde Hamilton Sr., his mother Eunice Hamilton, and three brothers Leo, Fred and Robert Hamilton. Clyde is survived by his loving wife Robin Hamilton and children Randy (Sheri) Hamilton, Dan Hamilton, JaNell (Jeff) Ingalls, Brad James, and Kristy (Ronnie) Smith, grandchildren Candace, Jared, Chyna, Justin, Dylan, Bryan, Shelby, Jesse, Kaytlin, Kane, Tyler and Danielle, great grandchildren Lauren, Lizzy and Hudson, brothers David Hamilton, John Hamilton, and sisters Marilyn Brady, Bonnie Rester, Donna Schumm, Nedra Tyus, Emily Andrews, Betty Joy Glover, and Gina Nelson.
Rest in peace my love for you will be deeply missed and always in our hearts. You have touched so many while on this earth and have fulfilled your obligation as a Christian. As you stand before the Father, hold your head high and know that we will see you soon. I love and adore you. – Robin
