Donnie Earl Cantrell

Donnie Cantrell, of Mesquite, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 20th in Mesquite, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother to all that knew and loved him. He was born on November 16th, 1940, in Dallas, Texas to Clifford and Helen Cantrell.

Donnie was married to his beloved wife, Pamela Cantrell, for over 50 years. He began roofing at the age of 13. This would be his profession for nearly 60 years, 40 of which he spent running his own roofing company. As he neared retirement, Donnie also began a side business selling pet supplies at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas. In his free time, Donnie enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, hunting, fishing, and barrel racing. His favorite movies were westerns, and his favorite music genre was country. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and made sure to watch all their games.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife Pamela Cantrell, son Christopher Cantrell, daughter Khristina Cole and husband David Cole, daughter Kandy Shirey and husband Tim Shirey, daughter Diane Herron and husband Charlie Herron, daughter Tiffany Ojeda and husband Josh Ojeda, daughter Brittney Burkhart and husband Kyle Burkhart, son D.J. Cantrell, and daughter Julie Cantrell.

He is also survived by grandchildren Collin Cole and wife Kamryn Cole, Peyton Shirey and wife Ivy Shirey, Kaleb Cantrell, Gracie Herron, Brandon Garcia, Katelin Cole, Preston Shirey, David Cole Jr., Avery Shirey, Hunter Garcia, Cash Burkhart, Madilynn Burkhart, Colton Ojeda, Summer Boyd, great-grandsons Hudson Shirey and Julian Ontiveros and brothers Ronnie Cantrell and Melvin Cantrell, as well as extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Cantrell, mother Helen Cantrell, sisters Barbara, Joyce, and Darlene Cantrell, and daughters Donna and Cynthia Cantrell.

The visitation will be held from 1 – 2 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, December 28th at Roselawn funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 o’clock on the same date, also at Roselawn Funeral Home officiated by Emma Dixson, the Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
