Born on November 25, 1962, in Houston, TX, she was the daughter of James Dewight Currie and Lauretta Nell Penny.
Finnis had a deep passion for preserving family and community history. She devoted decades to genealogical research and to cemetery preservation, where she photographed and documented headstones so that the memories of those who came before would not be lost. She began each morning in Bible study as a quiet and faithful practice to anchor her days.
She was preceded in death by those she loved most dearly: her parents, her aunts and uncles, and her husband, George Kent.
She is survived by her four children: James Ray Currie and his children Miles and Darby, of Collinsville, IL; Sarah Kusserow and her son Connor, of Seagoville, TX; Jamie Kusserow, of Dallas, TX; and Kathleen Currie, of Seattle, WA; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:00-3:00 PM, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Hwy 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. Finnis will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband George at Starrville Cemetery in Winona, TX at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Finnis's memory to: NAMI North Texas (naminorthtexas.org) or Dallas CASA (dallascasa.org).
