He was born on July 31, 1950 to Garth Winifred and Georgia Margaret Fagan Epperson in Dallas, Texas.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his older brother David Lee, and his younger sister Neda Lou Taylor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Julia Ruth Rucks, Sister-in-law Robbie Gayle Koller her husband David Joseph, nieces Kimberly Koller, Tracy Beeson and her husband Charles, nephew Jared Koller, nephew Paul David Epperson and wife Windy Nicole, nieces Jodie Lee and Kodie Nicole, nephew John David Epperson and his wife Rebecca Allen, niece Jasmen Michelle and nephew David Lee Epperson.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, going to the races, working on cars, was part of the pit crew at the racetracks and even drove a few times before he was of age to drive. He was a brave and daring youngster and was never afraid to tackle anything. He had lots of patience, a helping attitude and enjoyed being around good people. He enjoyed deer hunting with family and deep-sea fishing with cousins in Corpus. Lynn was always respectful to people and protected others, even total strangers when there was a need and ready to assist anyone.
Lynn graduated from Kimbell High School in Dallas in 1969. He lettered in track at Wilmer Huchins Junior High School for the years 1963, 1964 and 1965. He received a school letter in basketball and served as manager for the years 1964 and 1965. In 1964, his team earned the title of district champs.
He began his early work history by mowing yards in the neighborhood, hauling hay, and, at the age of 12 years old, started working at Griff’s Burger Bar (no one realized how young he really was), then later a barbecue restaurant.
Lynn followed his father and uncle’s footsteps at Dallas Transit during the summer months and after graduation he joined full time where he met his future Father-in-law, William Rucks.
He left Dallas Transit to become part owner of a diesel shop specializing in bus repairs and maintenance. While in the bus business, he met many entertainers and spent many years driving Michael Martin Murphey’s bus on tour and maintaining bus repair as needed. He considered that job the opportunity of a lifetime and it was a wonderful and exciting experience. He saw places he would never have been able to see otherwise, and he met many interesting people along the way. Later, he was a representative for Motor Coach Industries in Pembina North Dakota, and Louisville, Kentucky until he retired.
Family and friends will always remember him as a fun loving, hardworking, strong, gentle, humorous, a jokester sometimes, and always big-hearted and fun to be with. He was well admired by friends and family alike and seemed to attract good people to himself. He will be deeply missed by anyone who knew him and a tragic loss to us all.
