George Carroll Evans, Jr., 55, passed away on June 3, 2015 at his home in Kaufman, TX. He was born to George Carroll and Ethel (Selph) Evans, Sr. on November 9, 1959 in McRae, GA. George grew up in the Dallas area and was a 1977 graduate of H. Grady Spruce High School. In his early years he made his living as a welder, then about 1983 became a truck driver, first hauling sand and gravel and for the last several years as a local freight hauler. George was happiest when his home and yard were filled with family and friends. He especially loved his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pop” and thoroughly enjoyed coaching little league football for his own sons when they were younger. He loved the 4th of July holiday, saving all year to purchase fantastic fireworks and would tell Pat that “she could have Christmas, but 4th of July is mine!”. George also loved to fish, any kind, anytime and listening to music, he always had a radio tuned in around him. He was a hard worker, loved to live life to its fullest and since his cancer diagnosis has spent this last year trying to make sure that everyone would be okay after he was gone. Preceding him in death are his father, George Evans, Sr. and his daughter-in-law, Heather (Cunningham) Evans. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Pat Evans; children: Chad Evans and wife, Tina, Johnathan Evans and Charlie Evans and wife, Lindsey; grandchildren: Kayden, Dylan, Jackson, Lexi, McKinlee, Payton and Kaylah; mother: Ethel (Selph) Evans; sisters: Marsha Egeland and Tillie Vance and husband, Billy; numerous brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly. Donations may be made in George’s honor to: Genesis Women’s Shelter, Southwest Transplant Alliance-Legacy Memorial or to the Salvation Army. Pallbearers will be Don Simmons, Jim Simmons, Larry York, Nick Guigneaux, Clint Mayfield and Steve Cunningham. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX. Funeral service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Victory Church, Scurry, TX.
