Joel Richard Dodson was born on December 28, 1978, in Sherman, TX to Joe & Cynthia Dodson. He passed from this life into the arms of Jesus July 13, 2022, in Seagoville, TX. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his aunt and 2 uncles. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Kara, sons, Blake, Jacob & Lucas. Parents, Joe and Cinde Dodson, sisters Amanda Taylor & husband William, Misty Thomas & husband Max, nieces Brittney, Maegan & Elaina, and nephews, Dustin, Dalton, Dillon, Dakota & Jamie, great-niece Emma Taylor, in-laws Van, Ernestine, John and Kacie Gates, his sweet dog Rosie and a host of other family & friends.
Joel dedicated his life to Jesus as a young man and was baptized at Point View Baptist Church in Combine, TX and we know that though our time with him here on earth was short, our eternity with him in heaven will be forever. He was a 1997 graduate of Seagoville High School and got his paramedic certification @ MetroCrest and attended Trinity Valley Community College working towards his nursing degree. Joel loved his family and friends and until his health failed him he loved being a paramedic, giving so much of himself to the care and safety of countless others. His co-workers at Baylor and Sunnyvale are among his most treasured friends and have always spoken of him with nothing but praise. A life well lived doesn't have to be long in tenure as long as it is filled with love and though no family is ever perfect this family loved him and he loved us with all that we had. His memory will live on in the three amazing young men he left behind..
Per his wishes he will be cremated, and memorial service will be held Sunday, July 17th, at 3pm at First Baptist Church of Seagoville, 108 E. Farmers Rd. with Kevin Johnson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Dodson, Jacob Dodson, Lucas Dodson, William Taylor, Dustin Taylor and John Gates.
