On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, beloved wife and devoted mother, Mary Kathryn Wilson was called home and passed peacefully in Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lake Pointe hospital in Rowlett, Texas, comforted by the presence of her children and family.
Born December 29, 1940, in Stigler, Oklahoma, Mary was 23 days from celebrating her 82nd birthday. Born to proud parents Bud Williams and Loretta DeGloria Rogers, Mary lived the spirit of the strong Texas woman all her life.
Leaving Oklahoma for Amarillo, Texas, it was there that she met the love of her life, James Wilson. He was her first and only love. They were married on August 29, 1959, and remained together for 54 years until James’ passing in 2013. Together they raised 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mary and James would leave Amarillo to work in the Dallas, Texas area, and even while raising her children, Mary continued to work diligently. She worked twenty years at Texas Instruments and when that position ended she moved to Kroger where she committed another twenty-five years, finally retiring in 2007.
Mary loved the Lord and as an example of her strong spirit and Christian faith, Mary would bring her children every Sunday to Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, and would continue to worship there for many years. Later, Mary joined Pure Heart Fellowship in Rowlett, Texas where she was comforted by a welcoming congregation. She would continue to attend for the remainder of her life until she was too ill to attend. Even now, we continue to find her scripture notes and passages marked for later study in her Bible.
All who met Mary knew her to be a fiercely loyal, strong, and independent woman.
A force of will, unafraid to speak her mind or share her honest opinion of anyone or anything.
Mary had many hobbies and enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed watching professional golf & wrestling on TV. She enjoyed football and always rooted for the Dallas Cowboys. In her youth, she enjoyed driving cars at the demolition derby. She & James loved wrestling and often took the family to see professional wrestling matches. As she got older, She always enjoyed collecting things, coloring on her iPad, doing word puzzles, and tending to her plants. However, above it all and to the end her favorite hobby and where she was truly happiest was with her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson; parents, Bud Williams and Loretta DeGloria Rogers; her sisters, Eldred New, Bonnie Baldwin, and Judy Stewart; her brother, Wayne Brazil; and daughter-in-law, Linda Wilson.
She is survived by her children, daughter Loretta Wilke and husband, David Wilke of Rockwall, Texas (their sons, Benjamin, William & Andrew Wilke); son Christopher Wilson of Garland, Texas; daughter Chrystal Wilson of Colorado (her children Kenny, Anson & Brandy Hill); son Stephen Wilson of Balch Springs, Texas (his daughter Tiffany Wilson); son Danny Wilson of Balch Springs, Texas (his children Christian, Amandrea & Dillion Wilson); her two sisters Pam Green of Amarillo, Texas; Charlotte Dyer of Caddo Mills, Texas and brother Leroy Williams of Tulsa, OK.
