

Michael Richard Blackburn, born on February 12, 1957, passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 67, after a brief but courageous battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis that came just three weeks prior to his passing.
Michael was raised in Kinder, Louisiana but spent the majority of his life in Crandall, Texas, where he raised his family and built a successful career. Michael was a cherished husband, father, and friend, known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith. He was a dedicated Christian and a devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Crandall, TX. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and provided strength and comfort to him and those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paula Blackburn; son, Landon Blackburn; daughter, Laura Harvey, and her husband, Sean Harvey. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Ruby Blackburn.
Michael’s professional journey was marked by a remarkable career at Seconds & Surplus, where he made a significant impact. Starting as the manager of a single store, he rose to become the buyer for the entire company. His leadership and vision played a crucial role in the company’s expansion across the DFW Metroplex.
Known for his positive and optimistic outlook, Michael had a unique ability to uplift those around him. He brought joy and laughter to his family with his love for corny dad jokes, a trait that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His passions included traveling and exploring new places, with a special fondness for the beach, as well as fishing, playing poker, and camping. Michael’s culinary skills were a true delight to his family, who will greatly miss his cooking and the joy it brought him.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on September 20, 2024, at Central Baptist Church in Crandall, TX. Friends and family are invited to gather and share their memories of a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many. There will be a visitation from 10am-11am with the service following from 11am-12pm. Additionally, friends and family are welcome to join Paula, Landon and Laura following the service for refreshments at their home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jason’s Center of Hope in Michael’s honor.
Michael will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. His legacy of compassion, faith, and infectious humor will continue to inspire and guide us.
