He was born January 26, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Herman and Sibyl Parsons. Bob was raised in the Casa Linda neighborhood of Dallas, Texas but lived in Lilbert, Texas as a little boy. He attended Bryan Adams high school and served two years in the United States Army. Bob married the love of his life, Betty Kay Johnson in 1966 and the couple had three children. They were together for over 63 years. Bob was a freelance film worker in the prop department for over 21 years and worked on the set of many TV shows and movies, including: Dallas, Necessary Roughness, Born on the 4th of July, Conagher and Walker Texas Ranger.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed tinkering in his shop, playing on his tractors, taking grandkids for rides on his motorcycle and spending time with his family and beloved dog, Missy. Bob was really a “jack of all trades”. He could fix or repair anything you put in front of him and spent many years building onto and improving their home in Combine. In the late 1970’s, Bob was elected as the Combine City Marshall and served for 12 years.
He will be remembered as just a very good, sweet man who joked around with everyone. If he gave you a hard time, it meant he liked you. He was a wonderful brother to Mary and Mike and a wonderful husband, daddy, Big Daddy and Uncle Bob to his family.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Herman and Sibyl Parsons, aunts Treva Whitaker and Charlene Duke, uncles Glenn Thomas and Frank Thomas and his favorite little Jack Russell Terrier, Missy.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Parsons of Combine; sister Mary Gray and husband James of Plano; brother Mike Parsons and wife Vicky of Combine; daughter Laura Adamson of Corsicana, son Michael Parsons and wife Cristina of Combine and daughter Karen Parsons of Combine. His grandchildren include: Shelby Donoho and husband Daniel of Angus, Jesse Adamson and fiancé Kelsey of Chatfield, Amy Adamson of Chatfield, Savanna Mendez of New York, Chris Mata of Prosper and Sydney Mata of Combine.
