Roger was very proud to have served as a correctional officer for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice, a job that he only left so that he could take care of his dad prior to his passing. While that was his favorite job, for the majority of his life he was a mechanic at a car lot, Meshell Motors, owned by his father, where he was an amazing mechanic and could fix anything. Roger loved music…singing all of the time and enjoyed playing his bass guitar, mandolin, piano and drums. He loved to hunt. Roger was a very loving man and was known for being a jokester. His family was his world and he was affectionately known as “Poppy” by the grandchildren. Roger was a loving husband and always knew whatever Mary needed or wanted, without her ever saying anything, almost as if he could read her mind. He was a member of the Terrell First Assembly Church and is surely with his Lord and Savior, singing happily along the golden streets.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Tony and Mattie Meshell and sister-in-law Carol Meshell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 35 years, Mary Meshell; children: Mary Besherse and husband, Tim, Roger Meshell, Jr. and wife, Erica, Christina Shannon, Andrew Meshell and wife, Christina, Josh Meshell, Debbie Peltier and husband, Matthew and Rachel Kinder and husband, Kevin; grandchildren that he was raising as his own: Matthew Meshell, Karen Meshell and Stevie Meshell; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 4 sisters and Siggy, his beloved Chihuahua; a host of extended family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our family at this difficult time.
