

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with AT&T, where he eventually retired after many years of faithful work.
On February 7, 1953, Sam married the love of his life, Lucille McBroom. They shared 62 years of marriage until Lucille's passing on May 21, 2015. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and devotion to one another.
Sam was a loving father to Joyce, Tracy, and Todd McBroom. He was also blessed with daughters- in-law Carol and Camelia McBroom, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Outside of his work and family life, Sam enjoyed several hobbies. He was especially passionate about amateur radio and was a licensed ham radio operator known by his call sign, KB5YG. Through this hobby, he connected with friends and fellow operators across the country, reflecting his lifelong curiosity and love of communication.
Sam will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, dedication to his family, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
