Wayne Lee Dennis, 76, passed away on February 25, 2016 in Carrollton, TX. He was born on January 27, 1940 to Earnest and Francis (Turley) Dennis in Longview, TX. Wayne, also known as Denny, was a master auto technician and worked on cars all the time. He enjoyed working on them with his son and arguing about how to fix them. Wayne was a fanatic sports fan. Having played semi-pro baseball for the Shreveport Captains, naturally baseball and football were his favorite sports. He loved to watch the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, but would also watch any other sports event on tv. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work with his brother, which usually evolved into bickering and discussing exactly how it needed to be done. Wayne worked for EG McFillen Rent a Car Service for many years at the Lake Charles and Lafayette locations and was also a Mason at the Bossier City Lodge. He was a very selfless person and many of his children’s friends also called him Dad. Wayne was a loving father and never missed Carrie’s volleyball, basketball or softball games nor Rion’s football games and wrestling matches. He loved his grandchildren as well and they were all the apple of his eye. Wayne’s family was truly his greatest joy in life and they will hold him forever in their hearts. Preceding him in death are his daughter Regen M. Dennis; parents Earnest and Francis Dennis; sister Virginia Roicheaux and brother Clifford Dennis. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years Nanette (Lusk) Dennis; children: Christene (Dennis) Sonnier and husband Mark; Rachel (Dennis) Webster and husband, Matt; Carrie-Francis Dennis and Rion Lee Dennis; grandchildren: Mark Sonnier, Ethan Sonnier, Zachary Sonnier, Conner Sonnier and Noah Webster; great-grandchildren: Cooper Sonnier and Addelynne Sonnier; sister Wanda (Dennis) McMenis; twin brother Walter Dennis and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly. A memorial celebration will be held 10:00 am. March 12, 2016 at Reeves Bible Church in Reeves, LA. Please leave condolences for the family at www.Roselawn-Funerals.com.
