Wayne, being born in Dallas, and growing up in the close knit community of Rylie, Tx, graduating from Rylie High School in 1963 where he played football, proudly spent his entire life in that same area. Building and maintaining life-long friendships till the last, even up to meeting monthly with classmates for breakfast.
After graduation he worked at a few places until beginning his career at Dresser Industries from which he would retire 30 plus years later. Some of the most enjoyment he got in those years was helping work the sidelines at the Dallas Cowboy football games into the early ‘70’s.
But, what came to mean most to him was his wife Sheilah, whom he met in 1967 at Riley First Baptist Church, where he and Sheilah were later long time members. They were introduced by a mutual friend, and they married in 1968. They had their first child Melanie in 1969, and then their son Michael in 1971. In those years living in Balch Springs, Wayne worked diligently to provide for his family, and also benefitted the community, both at his church, and in coaching Pop Warner football.
It was later in 1978 that they purchased land in what was then the area of Lawson. They together spent the next couple of years building their house, from the ground up, by themselves with the help of family and friends. A house which through the years Wayne further showed his skill and diligence in remodeling, with such things as creating his own wood flooring, and crafting built in shelves and cabinets etc. If it needed to be done, Wayne would figure out a way to accomplish it. He always wanted take care of all of his family, and was always willing to do so.
All of it came from his love for his family. He was a kind, gentle, strong, capable, loving - Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Grandfather. In his kindness he never knew a stranger, and he always put everyone at ease. He had an open heart to all, giving everyone a chance, and always thinking the best of them.
He was a blessing to everyone who knew him, and though he will be greatly missed, he is woven into all of our hearts, and what he left behind is an example of love and diligence for all of us to cherish and emulate.
May God be praised for blessing us with the life of Wayne Adrian Marshall.
