Woodrow Dennis Nichols, 95, passed away on October 24, 2016 in Rice, TX. He was born on March 17, 1921 to Albert V. and Hallie (Bray) Nichols in Henderson County, TN. Woodrow liked to say that he had “been on two wheels for all of his life” and was fortunate to be able to ride his bicycle up until last year. He proudly served his county in the United States Army and upon discharge purchased the first of many motorcycles. Woodrow also served his God as a Pentecostal minister and traveled extensively throughout the United States spreading the word of God. He enjoyed telling the stories of his travels and of the time spent in the Army. Woodrow’s greatest pleasure was his family, especially the grandchildren whom he loved very much. Preceding him in death are his parents Albert and Hallie Nichols, wife of 43 years, Juanita Nichols, daughter LaWanda Kay Worley, son Gary Nichols, siblings DeRoy Nichols, W.C. Nichols, S.M. Nichols, Elva Patton, Kathleen Britt and Nell Bittner. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Larry Nichols and wife, Linda , Beth Sonak and husband Terry and Janette Raney and husband, Ray; twin sisters: Berniese Coley and husband, Benny and Norease Britt; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
