Born on June 1, 1956, in Shiner, TX, Anita was the beloved daughter of Ida Mae McGuire and Willie David McGuire. As a young child, she relocated with her family to Santa Monica, where she spent her formative years surrounded by family, community, and the values that would shape the remarkable woman she would become. Later in life, Anita moved to Monterey County, where she established roots, built friendships, and dedicated herself to both her profession and the community she faithfully served.
Anita was a compassionate, dedicated, and accomplished woman whose life reflected faith, service, grace, and unconditional love for others. A woman of deep faith, she carried herself with quiet strength, dignity, and compassion throughout every season of her life. Her caring spirit was evident in the many ways she gave back to others, including feeding the homeless in downtown Los Angeles and participating in clothing and school supply drives for families in need. Anita believed strongly in helping those around her and never hesitated to extend kindness wherever it was needed.
Professionally, Anita built a successful and respected career in banking. She proudly served for many years with Union Bank, where she rose to the position of Vice President. Among her many accomplishments, she was especially proud of opening the Seaside branch and cultivating lasting relationships throughout the community. Anita was admired not only for her professionalism and leadership, but also for the genuine care and respect she showed to colleagues, customers, and friends alike.
Known for her warm personality and welcoming spirit, Anita had a special gift for conversation and storytelling. She loved sharing memories, laughter, and wisdom with those around her. Whether speaking with family, friends, or someone she had just met, Anita had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her sense of humor, generosity, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
As her health declined, Anita became more reserved, choosing to focus on her peace, faith, and well-being while continuing to carry herself with grace and quiet resilience.
Anita was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ida Mae McGuire and Willie David McGuire.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Nolan McGuire; her sister, Beverly McGuire; her niece, Florence Annika McGuire; her nephew, Novell Terence Washington; her great-niece, Angelica Jackson; her special friend, Donell Gillespie; along with a host of loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Anita McGuire’s legacy of faith, compassion, dignity, and service will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know and love her. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered always.
Anita’s Celebration of Life will be held at Virginia Avenue Park, 2200 Virginia Avenue, Santa Monica, CA, on May 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
