SEASIDE – Cheryl DeAngelis, a native of Pennsylvania, passed away July 5, 2014, at home with her husband Michael at her side; following a courageous battle of transplants and cancer, at age of 60. Cheryl’s courage and faith through her trials is an inspiration to all that met her.
Cheryl graduated from Fort Knox High School and pursued an education in child development; graduating with a degree from Monterey Peninsula College.
Cheryl was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, the YLI, I-Help Board and Pasta with the Pastors and also was greatly engaged with the SFX International Festival and the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. She was particularly inspired by life near the ocean and enjoyed her walks with Deacon Mike along Del Monte Beach and their Aquarium visits.
Cheryl proudly supported Deacon Mike, her loving husband of 40 years during his Pastoral Studies to become a Deacon, and also achieved a certificate of her own. She is also survived by her parents, Joseph and Ruth DeAngelis, her sisters, Sheila (Phil) Angus and Karen Hand along with her brother Jay (Connie) DeAngelis. Also she leaves numerous nephews and nieces; and a cousin, Cindy Denning, whom she met at church and was surprised to learn they were related.
Cheryl’s family wants to extend their grateful appreciation to Drs. Jon Kitaji and Jerry Rubin along with Matt and Dee, the staff of Hospice of Central Coast, CHOMP’S terrace wings staff along with Theresa and the staff at Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit for their wonderful care and attention.
Cheryl’s family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to St. Francis Xavier Church Restoration Fund or St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, August 7th, with recitation of the rosary at 1:00pm and the mass to commence, at 1:30pm, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Seaside.
