
Edward Leo Johnson was born on December 9, 1959 to the late Leo and Gloria Johnson in Heidelberg, Germany. They relocated to Fort Sill, Oklahoma and then relocated to Fort Ord, CA in 1963. One year later they relocated to Seaside, CA where they settled. Edward grew up with his mother and step father John Williams. Edward graduated Seaside High School and worked a number of security jobs until he decided to join the army. He served 5 years in the US Army before joining the Army Reserve and serving 20 years. He met his beautiful wife Angelika Johnson while stationed in Germany and had their first beautiful child. Shortly after they moved to Texas and got married on September 2, 1982. Shortly after they had two more beautiful children and resided in San Jose, CA.
Edward was devoted to serving his country. He loved showing off his medals, his army hat, and sharing stories of when he was deployed. He loved cats. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, and eating all kinds of different foods, but what he enjoyed most there last several years was spending time with his grandchildren. He adored and loved them to the fullest. He spoiled them to no degree.
Edward is survived by his 3 children and their spouses; Gloria Johnson and Nathan Broderick of San Jose, CA, Brenda Johnson of Seaside, CA, Edward Leo Johnson Jr. and Oralia Gutierrez of Salinas, CA; his grandchildren Deja D’Aguilas, Eric Watson, Jessica, Ademilin and Adeliya Broderick, his sisters Gloria “Ne Ne” Johnson and Brenda Lyons; his brother Joe Johnson, his nephew Kiletter and Arian Johnson, his nieces Lanita Lyons and Ashley Marie Patton; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife Angelika Johnson, father Leo Johnson, his mother and stepfather Gloria and John Williams, his sister Lucille Johnson, his brothers Tyrone and Anthony Johnson, his nephew Michael Mercadel.
He was a loving and caring man, a straight to the point man, a tell you how it is man. He would give you the shirt off his back, the last dollar in his wallet. He was a great man, one who will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. He was a man we will all remember, cherish, and love forever.
