Gracie Mae Donley (née Clark) was born on June 22, 1940, to Elsie Clark and Katherine Hammond Clark in Muleshoe, Texas. She was raised in both Stamford, TX and Roswell, NM. She moved to California around 1956 and was a resident of the Monterey Peninsula for over 70 years.
Gracie worked in the hospitality and healthcare industries before retiring in the early 1990’s.
Gracie accepted Christ at an early age and was long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church in Seaside, CA where she served on several committees throughout the years.
Gracie was an avid BINGO player, she loved dancing, playing cards and hosted many card nights at her house (tunk and bid-whist were her favorite). She enjoyed driving along the Monterey Peninsula’s coastlines and spending time at the beach.
Gracie was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and to have a house full of kids she watched over the years. She loved cooking and during the holidays she was known for making her famous banana pudding!
Her family and friends will miss her sass, humor and tell it like it is personality!
Gracie was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Dianna Hunter Cain; sisters Mary Garrett, Juanita Giddings, Betty Jean Ellis, Ruth Williams; and brothers Jack Clark, Elsie Clark, Jr and Jimmy Lee Clark.
