Emily Adair King went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 11th. She died peacefully at home in Shoreline, Washington at 94 years old. Adair was born in Bremerton, Washington to parents Victor Granum and Lorenza Mjolsness Granum. She grew up in Bothell, Washington with her sister Inez attending Bothell High School at the Anderson School. During high school the family moved to Sundre, Alberta for a year spent with 20 Mjolsness and Granum cousins.
After WW II, while working at Puget Power, Adair met John Hubert King, unfolding 69 years of marriage until John’s passing in 2017. The family, with 4 children, lived in the Seattle Ravenna neighborhood until 1964 and moved to Bellevue with John’s 35 year career as Senior Financial Vice President at Puget Power.
Adair was loving, energetic, and determined. Together she and John travelled, backpacked, camped out, golfed, hosted friends at their Anderson Island home and at their Mesa Arizona home in Val Vista. They volunteered at Bellevue Presbyterian Church and in scouting. Adair graduated from the University of Washington in 1979 with a degree in Accounting after seeing the 4 kids through college. She kept up watercolor painting and piano daily until her hands gave out. Her watercolor note cards sent with love, faith and encouragement are remembered by all. She kept up playing Rummy-cub right up to the end.
Adair is survived by her sister Inez Hybholt, children Judy Adair Chambers, John Steven King, Lori Elizabeth Day, David Victor King, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
