He passed away peacefully in his sleep with the sound of soft music playing in the background at his North Seattle Adult Family Home.
Aldred was born on December 4th,1946 to Wilfred C. Ricketts and Vera M. Ricketts in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica. After completing his secondary education in Jamaica, Aldred moved to the U.S. to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer. He attended the University of Toledo, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. While attending college, he met Andrea Ricketts, who was attending nearby Bowling Green State University. They united in marriage on August 8,1969. On April 21,1974 and July 17,1975 respectively, Aldred became a father of two daughters, who he lovingly referred to as “Nini” and “Fiya.”
Post college, Aldred’s professional career commenced with project management roles at Owen-Illinois in Ohio and General Motors headquarters in Detroit, MI. In 1980, his productivity, resolute focus and tenacious attitude paved the way for Boeing to recruit him as a Civil Engineer. Approximately 6 years later, he launched his own Seattle based company, Project Management Associates. Aldred’s love of languages and culture, led him to acquire Comprehensive Language Services, Inc., where he worked as a broker from 1997 until he retired in 2018.
Aldred was a generous father and friend, who loved collecting art, listening to his extensive vinyl record collection, staying physically fit, and spending time with his family and dear friends. We will truly miss his infectious laughter and his sense of humor.
Aldred’s survived by his children, Anik W.N.(Joshua) Sendawula and Safiya Ricketts, and their mother, Andrea Ricketts; his two grandchildren; his brother, Rovel Ricketts; his nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Vera; his brothers Meridith and Carlton.
After a mighty battle, our daddy peacefully transitioned to be with Jesus to take his eternal rest. He was surrounded by family and friends who showered him with love and prayers, singing songs of joy and reminiscing over the larger-than life person he was on this earth. He heard it all! Although our hearts are overwhelmingly broken, we are comforted that he is no longer suffering.
Now he has his wings and has the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.
Celebration of Aldred’s Life is August 23rd, 2pm, Evergreen Washelli in Seattle
