There is not a day in my life that I have not thought of you. You were the leader in our family, the balance and the love. You lead by example, you were always optimistic and unwavering in your dedication to not only your family, but to your friends and those that were at times alone in this world. Did I ever see you sit idly by, not much. If you were through with work you were cooking dinner, taking Kenny or I somewhere for the activities you provided. You would then spend your leisure time creating, knitting something for a new baby or a sweater or something for one of the numerous charities you were involved in. I chose to live in Washington so I could always be close. You are the best role model a daughter could ever have. There is not a day I do not think of you, or, for that matter miss you. I hope your faith will carry me to you when I leave this earth. I love you mom.

Dear Mother,
 As we near the anniversary of your passing I want you to know that Jane and I miss you terribly.I hope that you are able to watch over our  miscues and blunders and get a good laugh or two from our plight.Everywhere I go I am touched by you. You were always this families touchstone and now Janey is our family's core.Thank you for always being there for us and tell dad to get his own tea. Love and miss your smile.......Kenny xoxo



Gracious, loving, professional. Most of all nurturing. These few words describe a women that was my grandmother. God has retrieved a precious gift he bestowed upon all of us. As I write this note I sit here a stair a picture of us. Gi GI yo passed 2 days ago. Now I am breaking inside. I am happy that your painful battle has ended and heartbroken that no longer will I feel your touch.
 
 My dear Grandma. My memories of you will always be held dear. You were a glue. A glue that bonded and held your family together. With every crisis faced we are stronger as a family. Thank you my sweet GI GI for those words. I realize you did not write them. I equally realize you saw the print and it summarized your feelings about your family. Again the picture. I am seeing your in your best Sunday dress and eyes which are true blue. The same eyes that cut my tuna sandwich three ways. The same blue eyes that had no problem viciously beating her grandsons butt at GIN RUMMY. My memories of you and I will forever revolve around a very specific table. The same table which you and I played cards at. The same table where you set many meals down. The salt air mixed with love and pride. You laughing at senior as he battled the weed wacker cord. Senior saying, damn this thing> you saying did ya loose the spring again Ken? You whispering to me"he has lost the spring again. Go help your grandfather find the spring. I would dig around in the Deacatur grass eventually finding the weed wacker spring. I would hand the spring to Ken Senior and he was always was torn between saying "thank you K III" and "don't tell your grandmother I lost the spring".  95 percent of the time he said" do not tell Alice I lost the spring".  I miss those days. I miss you so much. Your unconditional love, strength and heart will always be a part of all of us. We place you here today with Senior and your beloved Jo Jo. To the final end you were what you always were. Classy and sophisticated. A woman who would bend but not break. Confidence with patience. Compassionate and dedicated to her family. I realize that you have returned home now to be with the Lord as well as Senior, family and close friends. I only ask that you look in on us from time to time. Especially the little ones. Thank you for always being here for all of us. Keep up your Gin Rummy game GI GI. When we meet again you are going down. All my love to you as always KIII.


Dear Grandma- The words I love and miss you seem not enough,I find peace and comfort w/your passing that you are home and w/God and our loved ones. You are a true beauty inside and out.I know how lucky I am to have had you as my Grandmother and best friend.I see your spirit and heart in our family. You are a beautiful part to our family and always will be w/us in our hearts threw any moments we go through in life. Everything I feel for you lives on in every kiss and hug I give to our family. Thank you for making me feel safe and loved all my life. As I said to you, you gave me the best gift my father, and through that love I got blessed again w/the gift of my mother.There love gave me my brother and sister and I feel so rich.There are so many wonderful moments w/you I have they are dear to me and I will make sure to always stop and see the beauty as you did in the world.  Alice was such a lovely lady and I will always remember how sweet and funny she was. Stewart family I will keep you in my thoughts and am sending all my love to you!

Ken Stewart family,
My heartfelt sadness for the loss of your beautiful Alice. I feel blessed to have known her. Her smile lit up the room, such a witty sense of humor, so classy, and just a pleasure to be in her company. She was so good to my parents, and now they are all together.

Mom was many things to many people; Alice, Midge, Brat, Mom, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Aunty "A", "GIGI"; She has left a void in our home and we are trying to cope as best we can. In the last months of her life, she became our own sweet child. Watching after you Mom, these past eight years ,became ,a new day ,many times over in the course of the same day. You were always strong, light hearted and compassionate toward all. Jane and I feel lost,....I find myself wanting to remind you that the Mariners are on, planing a trip to Lawton, to the Dairy Queen, Ballard, to see Norma, Bernie, sunset at the beach in Edmonds, walks,Ivars, Red Lobster, Beth's cafe, Sharis, Flower World, Avanti's, only to catch myself and put such thoughts aside.It wasn't really such a long goodbye,....rather, a blessing and honor to be allowed to be in your company. I'm a bit depressed now that your burdens are gone; The old house, seems cold and void of the grace you carried yourself with. I feel an ache that is, for now quite constant.Janey and I will do better with time. We all miss you and love you dearly Mom. God bless and keep you always.

Temple Bailey, in a beautiful parable for mother,(grandmother) wrote these words:


and the mother(grandmother) said, "I have reached the end of my journey and I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them."


And the children said, "you will always walk with us, Mother,(Grandmother) even when you have gone thru the gate." And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said, "We cannot see her but she is with us still. A mother (grandmother) like ours is more than a memory she is a living presence."


My Grandmother was a simply a Beautiful person, she had a zest for life that always was exciting...I loved spending time with her. Every memory I cherish. I am so blessed to have had her for 42 years in my life... and I am honored to count her amongst my closest of friends...and there will not be a day that goes by that I will not think of her until I see her again. Love you, Grandma. xo
