

Allan Robert Galbraith, 94, was born on January 29, 1921 in Oak Harbor, Washington to Billy Newman Galbraith and his wife Eva Genevieve Butler. Allan grew up in the Methodist parsonage along with 6 older siblings until the family moved to Burlington when Allan was 15. Allan enjoyed picnics, trips to beaches, playing carom and dominoes, and singing around the piano. He was active with the Methodist Epworth League.
Allan graduated from Burlington High School in 1938, Mt. Vernon Junior College in 1940, and Seattle Pacific College in 1943. He was the Student Body Treasurer and a member of the Victory Male Quartet at SPC where he met and fell in love with Betty Jayne Stilson. Allan enlisted on September 1, 1943 and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater from January 19, 1944 to November 23, 1945 as a sergeant, USAF (Chaplain's Assistant). He received numerous battle ribbons and citations.
Allan was discharged from the service on December 15, 1945 and returned to Tacoma from overseas duty. Fourteen days later on December 29, 1945 Allan Robert and Betty Jayne Stilson were married in the Presbyterian Church in Centralia, Washington. Allan started his longtime career with Hooper Holmes, Inc. in 1946 as an Inspector in their Seattle Office. He was promoted to Senior Specialist Inspector in 1977, retiring from full-time employment in 1987. He worked part-time at Hooper Holmes and celebrated his 50th anniversary with the company in 1996.
The couple lived in Seattle, Spokane, Edmonds, and Richmond Beach where they shared their strong faith and love of music. They were active members of the Lakeview Free Methodist Church. Allan led the Vespers service at Northaven Assisted Living where he and Betty lived for 10 years. He and Betty moved to A Water View Adult Family Home in 2013 until he passed away on March 28, 2015.
Allan is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty Jayne Stilson Galbraith, his two children James Allan Galbraith and Marsha Elaine Galbraith Ammons, two grandchildren Jennifer Noelle Ammons and Jonathan Jeremy Ammons & an extended Galbraith clan.
A memorial service for Allan will be held on May 2nd at 2 PM at Lakeview Free Methodist Church at 9412 15th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98115. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeview Free Methodist Church or Operation Nightwatch. Allan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
