Our wonderful mother passed away on August 22nd after a short illness. Andrea was the second of three daughters born to George and Evelyn Sollick. She grew up in West Seattle and graduated from Holy Rosary High School. After spending a semester at Washington State College, she set off to pursue a banking career in Hawaii. She had recently met and fallen in love with her beloved Johnny K. He offered to pay her way back home and her adventure in Waikiki ended after two weeks. They were married shortly thereafter and started their family.
Their children were the center of their lives as they were immersed in their children's activities. After a long career with US Bank, she retired to spend more time at home and travel with John. They enjoyed the beaches of Maui, cruising the Mediterranean and Alaska, and their many trips to the Oregon Coast as well as cheering on the WSU Cougs and the Duke Devils. We will always remember her for the joy she had in preparing the turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving dinner, decorating her beautiful Christmas tree, and her many hours spent arranging and tending to her flower baskets on her deck.
Besides John, she was predeceased by her sisters, Carol Thomas and Marilyn Klewin, and brother in law, Bernie. She is survived by her children, Marianne, Jim, and Tim (Evie), brother in law, Jim Thomas, brother in law Fred Kain, and several nieces and nephews and their families, and other close friends. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien on Friday, September 1, at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or a charity of your choice.
