Arata Nakamura (78) passed away peacefully in Laguna Woods, California on December 23, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kieko Nakamura, his daughter Stacy (Nakamura) Brinkman, son Russell Nakamura, and three grandchildren.
Arata was an avid golfer, competitive bowler and billiards player, and a Vietnam veteran (Army). He spent much of his career in the Asian food business, having opened several restaurants before founding the Maruta Shoten grocery store. He loved Seattle and gave much of his time and resources to various endeavors in the Asian American community.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, January 20th, 1 p.m. (burial) and 2 p.m (reception) at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave N., Seattle, WA 98133.
