Asuncion "Shonie" Aldos Castro

In Loving Memory of Asuncion Aldos Castro. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Asuncion Aldos Castro, who peacefully passed away on July 28, 2025 at the age of 83.

Born on January 27, 1942 in Alao-Ao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, “Shony” was a loving and devoted mother to Michael, and a cherished grandmother to Miles.

Shony worked at the John Fluke Manufacturing company for 25 years. She was an active member in the Filipino American Association of North Puget Sound. Shony also volunteered at the St. Mary Magdalen Parish and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Filipino Choir.

Asuncion was a woman of immeasurable warmth, strength, and kindness. She gave her life to caring for others - not out of obligation, but from a deep well of compassion that seemed to have no end. Whether it was through her passion for dancing, clam digging, baking, or simply the way she made others feel seen and heard, she touched many hearts.

Her family was her greatest pride, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Somaly); her granddaughter, Miles; sisters, Marina, Anita, Amelita & Maxima; & brothers, Amado & Andres.

A visitation for Asuncion will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location, with a Rosary service beginning at 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 12:30 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 8517 7th Ave SE, Everett, WA 98208. The graveside service will follow on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA 98155.
