In 1953 the family drove across country and moved to Seattle, Washington. Barb graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1959 and remained in the Seattle area raising her family for most of her life aside from a brief move to Alameda, California with her Husband, Perry, in 1985. They moved back to Kirkland, Washington in 1989 where they lived until moving into a retirement community last summer. Barb was extremely talented. She loved to sew, quilt, and cross stitch, often making gifts for family and friends. She spent countless hours working on genealogy to build the family tree, long before computers came along to aide in this process. Aside from being a creative genius, she also loved a good garage sale and a bargain deal. You did not dare drive past a posted garage sale sign without stopping to find a hidden treasure, usually something no one needed, but she would always find a use for it. Her happiest moments though were spending time with family and friends. Attending sporting events to watch and cheer on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren gave her and her late husband Perry so much joy. She loved attending the annual hydro races, going to sporting events, and just spending time gathering with family for events, holidays, or just a simple Sunday dinner. Her family, (both human and four legged) was her everything. She found the good in everyone she knew. One of Barb’s biggest beliefs in life was living by these words, “think positive, and positive things will happen.”
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Timothy Harvey, and husband Michel “Perry” Dolan. Barb leaves behind her favorite sister, Patti Johnson (Bruce) of Shoreline, WA, 5 children, David Langsted of Lynnwood, WA, Colby Schimpf (Jamie) of Arlington, WA, Kris Murillo (Jon) of Redmond, WA, Eric Langsted (Monica) of Mukilteo, WA, Brian Huffman-Langsted (Jack) of Lake Forest Park, WA, and two stepsons, Michael Dolan (Rita) of Lincoln, CA and Timothy Dolan (Julie) of Penryn, CA. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and of course many friends, all of whom will miss her terribly.
To honor her life, the family is planning a celebration soon. We will announce this date once solidified. We would like to thank the staff at The Creekside Independent Living in Woodinville, WA, and the staff at Northgate Plaza Senior Assisted Living in Seattle, WA for the exceptional care our mom received during her brief time at both communities.
