Bette was born on July 9, 1924 in Oakridge, Oregon to parents Richmond and Mary Orr. After graduating from high school, she moved to Seattle and worked for a time at Boeing before enlisting in the Women's Navy Corps during WWII. While stationed in San Diego, she met and married the love of her life, Harold "Les" Leslie, a lifelong Marine, who preceded her in death in 1970. Survivors include son Mike (Deborah) of Shoreline; twins Lance of White Salmon and Kathy (Bruce) of Spokane; and son Jerome of Seattle; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many loving extended family and friends. A founding member of Faith Temple, she was a devoted Christian. She passed away on May 23, 2009 at Park Ridge Care Center at the age of 84.
