
Bettie Ruth Jones, age 82, died at Highline Medical Center on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from complications with Alzheimer's. Born May 7, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Lovie Houston and Florine Ellis, Bettie migrated to Seattle, Washington with family as a young adult, where she remained until her death.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Bettie will especially be remembered for the tremendous love and sacrifice she exhibited towards her loved ones. She displayed extreme generosity, wit, and humor to all those who knew her. Bettie enjoyed playing bingo, loved the blues, and was an avid cook known for her famous sweet potato pie.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was predeceased by Ben Metcalf (first husband), Henry Jones (second husband), and Bettie Metcalf (daughter).
Loving memories will be cherished by Bettie's children: Andrew Bryant, Gregory (Jean) Morgan, Benita (Melvin) Gray, Felicia (Jay) Turner, Eugene Metcalf, and Barbara (Tony) Metcalf; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitations will be held at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Washelli Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave. North, Seattle, WA 98133.
