

Bruce Franklin Dwight Tanner, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2010 in Seattle. Bruce was born on February 10, 1928 in Hardin, Montana to Franklin Dwight Tanner, Esq. and Mira Ruth (Kennedy) Tanner. He was baptized in early 1938 in Butte, Montana. He graduated from Broadway High School in 1946 and attended the University of Washington in Seattle and Ventura Junior College in Ventura, California.
Bruce was united in marriage to Joyce Patricia Hannafin on March 24, 1949 in Seattle. Bruce's first job after high school was at The Boeing Airplane Co. He left Boeing to serve briefly in Army Intelligence. He returned to Boeing for a short period of time prior to joining the U. S. Postal Service in August 1949. After a fulfilling 37-year career, he retired as a Postmaster in April 1983, having served in management for 17 years. After retirement at age 55, he enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world with family and friends.
Bruce first joined the Masons in 1959 and was a proud member for 51 years at Occidental Lodge #72 in Seattle. He was Master of the Lodge in 1964.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Joyce of 61 years, daughter Linda (Gary Iverson) of Bonita Springs, Florida and son Richard (Linda), grandchildren Richelle and Julia of Seattle, Washington. Bruce is also survived by his sister Betty Lou Hill of Eugene, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, son Jerald, who died in childhood, and his sister LaVerna Cole.
