Carey D.T. Ward unexpectedly passed away on December 20, 2016 following a brief battle with cancer. He was a resident of Woodinville, WA. Carey was born in Berkeley, CA to Jay Ward and Ramona Compton Ward. His family moved to Hollywood, CA when Carey was about nine. He attended Garner Elementary and then Le Conte Junior High. As a teen Carey was active with the Hollywood Presbyterian Youth Group and played basketball. He attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana for several summers. He graduated from Hollywood High School and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and Chapman College in Orange, CA.
Carey was a broker and real estate agent during his entire career, primarily in Orange County, CA, where he owned Sunbow Realty in Costa Mesa. He first married Elaine "Scotti" Ward and during their marriage he adopted her daughter. He later married Jennifer Ward and they had two sons together. They relocated to the Seattle area to raise their children in Woodinville, WA.
Living most of his life in CA, Carey enjoyed recreation on beaches, most notably Big Corona Beach where his family spent weekends while he was growing up. He was a master at cooking on a grill and loved entertaining friends and family. Among many interests he enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, vacation getaways, beachcombing and bonfires, collecting coins, comics, animation, humor and horse racing. Carey valued his friendships from the ones he formed as a youth, young man and throughout his career, to his more recent friendships since living in WA. Above all Carey adored his sons. He loved spending time with them, helping them with their interests and encouraging them.
Carey will always be remembered as a fun-loving, big-hearted guy, a creative thinker, a loyal friend and a devoted father. He is survived by numerous cousins, brother Ron, sister Tiffany, niece Amber, and his sons Davis and Carson. He now joins other beloved family members including his father Jay, daughter Beth, aunts Marcella and Jeannie, and his mother Ramona.
