

Carla Mae Ruth (Cederberg) Elliott Burgason, 94, passed away on April 17, 2025 in Bothell, Washington. She was born May 28, 1930 in Chisholm, Minnesota, daughter of a Swedish Lutheran pastor in the Augustana Synod. She was third of five children. The family moved to Grantsburg, WI. when Carla was five years old, then six years later, they moved again to Churchbridge, Saskatchewan. She loved living there, made many life-long friends, and often told stories of growing up on the prairie in Canada. When she was a teenager, the family moved to Munterville, Iowa where she attended Ottumwa High School. She married Robert N. Elliott in Munterville on June 25, 1949. They had three children, and in 1958 they moved to Seattle where their fourth child was born. Robert preceded her in death in February 1982.
Carla worked her whole life as a legal assistant and was admired and respected by all who knew her. She belonged to the American Business Women’s Association and the Swedish Club, as well as the Granite Curling Club of Seattle where she was an avid curler, a sport she first played in Canada.
In 1998, Carla married Lowell A. Burgason whom she had known years before in Ottumwa, Iowa. They had many happy years until he died in January 2015.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Rochelle Elliott of Blaine, WA., and Jeffrey Elliott of Milton, WA., and two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Kenneth Easley of Carnation, WA., and Suzanne and Vern Marchetti of Monroe, WA., and a foster daughter, Diane Chanda of Marysville, WA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Carla always said that the most important things in her life were her Christian faith and her family.
A memorial service will be held at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 13047 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle on Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
