On March 11, 2025 Clyde Vaughn Strickland went home to be with the Lord. Over the course of his life, Clyde was a strong self advocate who believed in civil rights, sought greater understanding of spiritual ethics, and valued the dignity of others regardless of socioeconomic status or cultural heritage.
Clyde was born on December 3, 1950 in East Palo Alto, California to his parents Clyde and Leatrice Strickland. His parents preceded him in death, along with his sister Laverne G. Strickland, and Victor Strickland. Clyde's first wife Jacqueline T. Strickland also preceded him in death.
Clyde worked since age 20 and finished his career as an IT Systems Specialist for the Washington State Department of Personnel, HRSID. He retired in 2006.
Clyde had a compassionate heart, quick wit, and a dedicated work ethic. He enjoyed fine cuisine, movies, award-winning television series, basketball, and stand up comedy. Clyde was gracious at times, sent thoughtful greeting cards to family as well as friends, and was described by many as resourceful and supportive of others.
Clyde is survived by his second ex-wife Brenda L. Strickland, third ex-wife Victoria A. Strickland, his son Clyde, his brothers Lloyd, Rodney, Stacy, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Together, we mourn his loss and will miss him dearly.
Heavenly Father, Elohim, Lord of creation, Please provide us with peace and encouragement during this time of grief. We admit that we should seek a deeper relationship with you. We are grateful for Christ's perfect sacrifice that serves as the ultimate atonement for our sins. Thank you for the continual sanctification of our souls. Please bless us with tears of comfort as we remember the kind man who is now in your eternal care.
Now to Him who is able to keep us from stumbling, and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to God our savior who alone is wise, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power,
Lord we pray in the holy name of Jesus, Amen.
A Funeral Service for Clyde will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133, followed by a Committal Service.
