Delphia Blanche Johnson born 5/29/1911, died 10/02/2012. Blanche was born on the family farm near Dell Rapids, South Dakota. She had many fond memories growing up with her parents, Mark and Ida Ferguson, three brothers, Millard, Elmer and Les (all deceased). Their lives were filled with hard work on the farm. For entertainment they enjoyed barn dances where their father played violin and their mother taught them to dance. Dancing became one of her lifelong passions as well as baking, cooking, canning and traveling. Her working years were filled with a variety of jobs. She was a welder during World War II, clerk for the Veterans Administration, sales clerk at various bakeries and a laborer for 18 years at a metal manufacturer. Life had many challenges for her and she met them all courageously. She was a loving mother to her son, Eldon (deceased) his wife, Pat (Wayne) Robertson and daughter, Verla (Larry) Engel. She will be remembered and missed by her grandchildren, Renee Zehr, Delana (Brian) Michel, Beth (John) Rodriguez, her great-grandchildren, Danielle and Brian Zehr and Caleb Rodriguez, step-grandchildren, Lisa Grouse, Robin Berscheid, Dawn Curtis and Monte Hinebaugh, several step-great grandchildren as well as her nieces, nephew and many wonderful friends. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend will be with us for the rest of our lives.
